The Big Stitch community artwork project

March 31 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm

Event Navigation

Join embroidery artist Jessica Grady, adding your own sequins and stitching to this community artwork project. All the sequins are created using combinations of recycled and waste materials.

A community participation event, where people can join in and get involved with adding their own stitching and embellishments to a large community wall hanging. Each of the sequins created for the project has been made out of recycled and waste materials. The piece was started at the Art & York 2018 show and has been added to by people of all ages and abilities from York. The installation encourages people to be aware of sustainability and environmental issues surrounding fast fashion as well as introducing the public to hand embroidery and getting them involved in being creative.

This event is part of York Fashion Week
