National Day of Stitch

York Explore Cafe
June 22 @ 10:30 am - 4:00 pm Free

Celebrate the National Day of Stitch in style and join the City of York Embroiderers’ Guild in the library, who will be there  promoting textiles and embroidery to a wider audience.   Watch some demonstrations of stitch, have a go yourself, and take part in a piece of community artwork.  Drop in to the cafe between 10:30 am and 4pm to take part.

The City of York Embroiderer’s Guild is a group who enjoy all things stitch and textiles. They are a sub-branch of the UK Embroiderer’s Guild, which is a charitable organisation designed to promote stitch to a wider audience and protect its rich history.  They are made up of a range of ages and abilities, and meet monthly at the New Earswick Folk Hall.  They also have a group of Young Embroiderers who enjoy a range of textile workshops in the school holidays.
