The iconic Walter Brierley designed building opened its doors as a Public Library for the citizens of York on 23 September 1927.
For 90 years it has been at the heart of the city, providing opportunities for everyone, of all ages and all backgrounds.
Libraries have always been about sparking imaginations and shaping futures, and ninety years later Explore is still at the heart of the community, still relevant, exciting and accessible to everyone.
