Can you help us bag some cash from Tesco?

Explore York Libraries and Archives Mutual is bidding to bag a cash boost from the Tesco Bags of Help initiative to buy new toys to lend through our Toy Library Scheme.

Tesco works with Groundwork on its community funding scheme, which sees grants of £4,000, £2,000 and £1,000 raised from carrier bag sales in Tesco stores awarded to local community projects.

Three groups in every Tesco region have been shortlisted to receive the cash award and Explore York Libraries and Archives Mutual is one of the groups on the shortlist.

The Toy Library is a city wide service, lending toys for 3 weeks for 50p an item.Toys are ordered online through our library catalogue and delivered to people’s local library for collection so that they are accessible to everyone. We want to extend this service, including buying more toys for children with disabilities and to buy storysacks. These are often expensive and so we help parents to “try before they buy”, or just to add variety for their children. Play helps the children with their learning and development and makes life more fun and fulfilling.

If you shop at Tesco Clifton Moor,  Huntington Road, Piccadilly, Strensall, Goodramgate or Low Ousegate,  and would like to help, please pop your blue token in the Toy Library box from now until 31 December 2018.
